Help
Short answers to what people ask most. If yours is not here, email oseimelvin@gmail.com. I read every one myself, so give me a day or two.
Getting started
How do I get the app?
Search for M’AKOMA on the App Store on your iPhone. The Android app is on its way.
Do I need a password?
No. The first time you open the app it sets you up. Type the name your people know you by and, if you like, your mobile number or email so people who have it can find you.
How do I connect with someone?
Everyone has their own code. Find yours in Profile → Account → Your code, then copy it or share it. To use someone else’s, tap I have a code and type it in. If you let the app see your Contacts, it can also show you who already uses M’AKOMA.
Pulses, Echoes and Ripples
What is a Pulse?
A tap that lights someone’s bead. A way of saying “thinking of you” without a word.
What is an Echo?
A voice note to one person.
What is a Ripple?
A voice note to a group chat. Groups can also share text, photos and videos, with reactions and replies.
Your bracelet
How do I connect my bracelet?
Charge it, keep it next to your phone with Bluetooth on, and open the app. The app finds your bracelet and walks you through the rest. It only uses Bluetooth to talk to your own bracelet.
My bracelet will not connect
- Check that Bluetooth is on, and that M’AKOMA is allowed to use it in your iPhone’s Settings → M’AKOMA.
- Make sure the bracelet is charged.
- Close the app and open it again with the bracelet next to your phone.
Still stuck? Email me and tell me what you see.
Is M’AKOMA an emergency device?
No. M’AKOMA is not an emergency or medical device and does not contact 911 or any emergency service. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
Notifications
I am not getting notifications
On your iPhone, open Settings → Notifications → M’AKOMA and make sure Allow Notifications is on. A Focus mode can hold them back too. Notifications come through Apple, so your phone needs to be online.
Safety
How do I report or block someone?
Long-press a message and tap Report, or open a person and tap Report or Block. I review every report within 24 hours. The rules everyone agrees to are in the terms of use.
Your account and your data
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to Profile → Account → Delete account. It deletes your account, your name, the one-way code of your number or email, your profile code, your connections and your place in every group, plus anything still waiting on the server, and clears the app’s data on that phone. The people you were connected with are told the connection has ended.
What do you do with my data?
As little as possible. No ads, no tracking, nothing sold. Pulses and Echoes leave the server within a day of being delivered, and group chats after 30 days. Every detail is on the privacy page.
